It rests in t...The problem with Populism is simple. It rests in the name. It is founded on whatever is popular at the moment, whatever will bring votes. It by definition does not have a long term plan, as people are fickle, and change their minds often. Populism in 20 years will likely be very different than it is today. For instance, today many people who follow Lou Dobbs are up in arms about free trade and illegal immigration. Yet if his proposed policies are followed, it is very likely that in 20 years, the popular thing will be to join in trade pacts, since our country will be left out of the global economy, and increase immigration by any means needed, since our population aged too fast without enough immigrants.
